SPEAK UP!

I want to write in regards to the "controversy" that has presented itself in the past few entries. To be honest, its great. I'm glad people are writing comments and sharing their views. THIS IS A GOOD THING. If there is something that you disagree with, make yourself heard. Thats what this whole blog is about. We want you to speak up! Seriously, send us something. We'll put it up. Anything that matters to you.

I know this blog contains some heated issues but I have to ask that the comments be kept clean and professional. Please don't make any personal attacks or comment will not be published or even removed. If you take issue with a post WRITE YOUR OWN VIEW AND SUBMIT IT!!! If it is clean, we will post it. This site needs post created by the reader to continue to thrive. The site has more than a 1000 hits so people are reading. Come on I know someone has something to say and wants to put it in writing, WE NEED NEW POSTS.

- thanks for reading

Hi,
I'm just writing to ask whether "comment moderation" ever crosses over into censorship. I'm all for it (comment moderation) if it's simply a way to prevent people from posting completely irrelevant comments, or whether it's to prevent overzealous/angered bloggers like yours truly from getting naked and starting the revolution.

In any case, rock on for the great website and if you ever need a copy-editor...to give the site a more professional feel...

Okay, sorry, I'm just a grammar-nerd.

Kbye.

The comment moderation is just a way to make sure we don't put up anything that will get us into trouble. We don't edit anything. Like we stated earlier, we can't put up hate speech etc, that will get us into shit with the administration. We havent prevented anything from posting anything, and I doubt we'll have to, its just a way to make sure we dont get shut down. We just want to keep thing "relatively" clean. Know what I'm saying?

this post implies to me that the blog is desperate for new material. yet, when a friend of mine submitted a piece to you about the advantages of menstrual cups, you rejected it with explanation that it was too much like advertising.

how did you decide on your definition of what makes a piece advertising and what makes it a legitimate article? as someome who read the submitted article, while i agree it makes a stong argument for the use of alternative menstrual products, it was certainly not an ad. more like an op-ed piece. it is unfathomable to me that you would print someone's (in my opinion) ignorant and bigoted response to the vagina monologues, in which they also tried to "sell" their point of view, yet you refuse to print an opinion piece that promotes a pro-environmental awareness, pro-female empowerment lifestyle.

i was really excited about this blog when it began, but so far i feel like it is proving itself to be a site for misogyny to brew.

I agree with Robin. Also, I'm pretty sure I submitted a comment on this post and it hasn't been published. It seems unfair that two anonymous moderators have the judicial right to determine what gets posted and what gets dismissed without explanation. I bet the Acorn would publish the menstrual cup article. The writer should submit it-- it'd provide new and interesting reading material in a paper littered with self-righteous Republican bullshit (I'm referring only to one person, not offending anyone who has regularly posted here).

The reason why the menstrual cup article was not published was because the article was over 1000 words, if posted it would take up the entire page. If published it would be the longest post on the entire blog. I would be willing to post the article if it was shortened a bit. The reason why the post was denied at first because I belive that it read too much like an ad, and I did not want this blog to become a place were people could advertise products. After reading these comments I realize that the post is more than an ad and I am willing to post it if Emily resubmits it in shorter form. Remember that the Admins of this site reserve the right to moderate content (that means not post things). We promised not to censor content (that means change the content of a post).

Sorry about the missing comments, many were ACCIDENTLY deleted, please
re-comment and they will be posted

I don't see anywhere on the site saying how long articles should be. If there are rules for posting, they should be clearly displayed so that people know why they are being censored.

you didn't post the article because it was too long? that seems a little ridiculous to me. all about the free speech... unless it's over 1000 words. then forget it.

just a little hypocritical to me.
