I'm walking out. I am not walking out because I want to get out of class (I have enough courage to not go to class without an excuse), but because many of my brothers and sisters don't have the privilege of going to an elite private university, and instead have been left to die on the battlefields of Iraq. I am walking out to remind people that there is an economic draft, and even though we might not see the direct impact all those dying due to our economic privilege here at drew, people are DYING on both sides for an unjust war. See my absence in class as a way to give those who have died in Iraq a voice here at Drew, a place so far removed from the death. My absence is representing their absence in a place they did not have the privilege to attend.

I didn't walk out of class, but I might have had I known about this. It's too bad all of this had to happen on my birthday.
