- Here’s a list of some of the reasons why I (and I hope you as well) will be voting for Barack in 2008:
- Alternative Energy
- Universal Healthcare
- End to War in Iraq
- Affordable Education
- Stem-Cell Research
- Homosexual Civil Union
- Separation of Church and State
He’s not quite perfect, of course. For example, he supports affirmative action, which I loathe on ideological grounds. But that isn’t enough to keep him from standing far, far ahead of my current second-place presidential pick, Rudy Giuliani.
I believe that if elected in the Democratic primaries, Obama will become the next President. However, there is one obstacle to this; one ugly, soulless obstacle. I am speaking of course of Hillary Clinton. She has no political ideology save whatever the most recent opinion polls indicate is most advantageous. For example, she voted in favor of the initial invasion of Iraq, and today decries the invasion as a foolish blunder of the Bush administration. She has no interest in anyone’s benefit but her own. She expects that women will vote for her simply on the basis of her gender. But of course, her key advantage is mere name recognition through her husband and through her First Ladyship. She publicly attacked Obama for accepting campaign donations on the grounds that the donator was a former Clinton sympathizer who became estranged after realizing Hillary’s true character. Quite simply: Hillary is deplorable.
Polls indicate that Hillary leads Barack in the popularity; however, the election is still far over the horizon, and she is steadily losing her lead. I hope I am not being overly optimistic in predicting that this trend will continue.

Enoch,
We actually agree on this!
I look forward to reading more about Obama and his positions as the election nears, but so far I believe he's the best candidate for Presidency. I sort of wish Gore would run as Vice, but that'll just have to remain a pipe dream...
It's still a long ways off...possibly too early to decide just yet. This might be of use...

First time voting? Welcome to democracy! Just be sure to vote smarter than your parents...

Barack Obama has stated publically that he does not support gay marriage. That bothers me a lot.

No serious candidates I know of for the presidency support gay marriage as such. I happen to be personally satisfied with the practice of civil union, and I think those who support gay marriage will have to settle for that this election.

Hillary agrees with most of those issues you like Obama for. I also think it's interesting that you call Hillary ugly and souless, but say you like Obama because of his issues. It would seem like if thats why you don't like Hillary you would say youre voting for Obama because he is attractive and has a soul.
Also, with people aged 35 and over or something like that in a Gallup poll that was just released Hillary is equally popular with men and women, not just women.
She voted for Iraq just like almost every other person in Congress and the American people.
You seem to know exactly what Clinton is thinking too, do you know her on some personal level that you would know she has no interest except her own? If you do I'll take your word for it, I've never had the chance to pick her brain myself. You said you educated yourself about the candidates, but it just doesn't seem like you did to me.
Vote for whoever you want, I like Obama and Clinton equally. I think they'd both make great Presidential Candidates for the Democratic Party... I just think your argument is lacking to say the least.

I'm not a perfect judge of character, but from my own limited perspective I've come to the following conclusion: Hillary doesn't care about the people of the United States, she cares about becomeing the President. Everything I wrote about her is written with this in mind.
